Day Two: Denver
The weather has played a part in how I’ve had to plan this week - so today I had to make some adjustments. Denver is known for its sunshine, with 320 days of it a year but I guess I picked the one week where it rains!
That didn’t stop me from getting out and exploring the city. This city is endlessly walkable and I really enjoy just casually wandering with no real plans.
My first stop of the day was to Rockmount Ranch Wear. Founded in 1946, they were the ones who invented the western snap shirt. They have a small museum upstairs that showcases their history and celebrity clientele.
I decided that this was probably the right place for me to buy a cowboy hat. One of the associates, Ky, walked me through how to select the right hat and it was a great concierge experience. They fitted me and even shaped the hat for my head. It was a great, unexpected experience. Also, their shirts were incredible. If I ever decide to go full cowboy, this will be my first stop.
My next stop was the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. I think I picked the wrong day because about 2000 school kids were there on class trips so it felt a little chaotic.
However, I really did enjoy my time walking around, looking at the exhibits and learning more about the animals native to the Rocky Mountain region. They also did a great job of exploring animals from other parts of the world. It was a great place to spend a couple hours on a rainy afternoon.
I then headed back to the hostel and took a cat nap because the highlight of the day was Kacey Musgraves in concert at Ball Arena.
I was disappointed when she didn’t have any Florida shows in her tour, but fate aligned and she was here the same time I was, so I decided to treat myself and got tickets for the pit.
It was an amazing show, I was literally by the stage and had a great night singing, dancing and maybe letting out a few tears when “Lonliest Girl in the World” started playing.
I’m vibing - whatever it is that I was looking for in Denver, I think I found it.
